What Warning Lights On You Car Mean

What do all of these warning lights mean? Simply put, your vehicles’ internal computer knows that something isn’t quite right and is alerting you to an issue that needs attention. Could be that it’s just time for regular maintenance, or there may be a larger issue that requires immediate action. ABS Warning Light

  • The ABS, or Antilock Braking System, warning light showing indicates a malfunction in the ABD system of the Brake Assist system.

Charging System Warning Light

  • The Charging System Warning Light showing indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s charging system. It is recommended that you stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately and contact your Toyota dealer.

Cruise Control Indicator

  • The Cruise Control Indicator simply indicates that the cruise control system has been activated. This is less of a system warning and more of a reminder that cruise control is currently active.

Electric Power Steering (EPS) Warning Light

  • The EPS, or Electric Power Steering, Warning Light indicates a malfunction in the Electric Power Steering system. It is recommended that you have your vehicle inspected by a Toyota dealer immediately.

Headlight high beam indicator

  • The Headlight high beam indicator simply indicates that the headlight high beams have been switched on. This is less of a system warning and more of a reminder that high beam lights are on.

Low Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light

  • The Low Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light indicates that the engine oil pressure is too low. It is recommended that you stop the vehicle in a safe space and contact your local Toyota dealer.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light

  • The Low Fuel Level Warning Light indicates low fuel levels. Find your nearest gas station and refill.

Master warning light

  • The Master warning light accompanied with a buzzer sound indicates that the master warning system has detected a malfunction in your vehicle. Contact you Toyota dealer for further diagnosis.

SRS Warning Light

  • The SRS, or Supplemental Restraint System, Warning Light indicates a malfunction in one of the following: the SRS air bag system, the front passenger occupant classification system or the seat belt pretensioner system.

Seat belt reminder light

  • The Seat belt reminder light warns that the driver and/or front passenger should fasten their seat belt.

Security Indicator

  • The Security Indicator flashes flashes after the ENGINE START STOP switch has been turned off to indicate that the system is operating. The indicator light stops flashing after the ENGINE START STOP switch has been turned to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode to indicate that the system has been canceled for vehicles with a Smart Key System and flashes after the ENGINE START STOP switch has been turned off to indicate that the system is operating. The indicator light stops flashing after the ENGINE START STOP switch has been turned to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode to indicate that the system has been canceled for vehicles without Smart Key System.

Slip Indicator

  • The Slip Indicator light indicates that the vehicles VSC, or Vehicle Stability Control, system is operating.

TRAC OFF Indicator

  • The TRAC OFF Indicator light indicates that the TRAC, or Traction Control System, is turned off.

Tire Pressure Warning Light

  • The Tire Pressure Warning Light comes on when low tire inflation pressure is detected. The light will also come on after blinking for one minute when a malfunction in the tire pressure warning system has been detected.

Turn Signal Indicator

  • The Turn Signal Indicator comes on when left or right turn signals have been activated. If the light flashes faster than usual, check your light bulbs in the front and rear turn signals.

VSC OFF Indicator

  • The VSC OFF Indicator indicates that the vehicle VSC, or Vehicle Stability Control, system is turned off.
