The 2026 Toyota RAV4 represents a significant overhaul as it enters its sixth generation, with several key differences compared to the 2025 model:
Powertrain
The 2026 model is exclusively available as a hybrid (HEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The standard hybrid has a more powerful setup, offering 226 HP (FWD) or 236 HP (AWD). The PHEV now boasts 320 HP.
The 2025 model, on the other hand, offers both traditional gasoline engines and hybrid powertrains.
Design
The 2026 model features a blockier and more rugged exterior design, with front and rear ends more similar to the Toyota Camry and Grand Highlander.
Meanwhile, the 2025 model has a more rounded and less boxy design.
Technology
The 2026 RAV4 comes standard with a 10.5-inch center touchscreen, with an option for a larger screen. It also features a standard customizable 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a drive recorder.
This is a significant enhancement over the 8.0-inch touchscreen display of the 2025 RAV4.
PHEV Enhancements
In what should be huge news for PHEV fans, the 2026 RAV4 offers an increased all-electric range of approximately 50 miles (up from 42 miles in the 2025 model) due to a larger battery. The XSE and Woodland trims now also support DC fast-charging via a CCS port.
Depending on trims, options, and overall demand, the price of a new Toyota RAV4 may vary. The lowest-priced RAV4, the RAV4 LE, has a base MSRP of $28,475 and the TRD Off-Road which is the highest non-hybrid trim level has a base MSRP of $38,095
Trim Level | Est. MPG** | APROX. MSRP* |

Reliability is dependent on three main factors: the driver, the environment, and the frequency of repairs. CoPilot Search reports the life expectancy of the Toyota RAV4 is between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. Now Toyota has no official number on this, but with great care, there’s no telling how long a new Toyota RAV4 may last!
With the EPA rating the non-hybrid RAV4 of being capable of getting 35 MPG on the highway** and having a gas take size of 14.5 gal, the RAV4 is capable of going 507 miles on a single tank! Now these are “perfect world” numbers and should be taken with a grain of salt, but there’s no doubt that the Toyota RAV4 is great for long trips!
My girlfriend recently bought a brand new Rav4! Our salesman was a really great help through the whole process. Made the process go very smoothly and stress-free! Highly recommend; great salesman great guy! Thanks, Tuscaloosa Toyota! – Austin
I had a wonderful experience here with everything from my trade-in to the purchase of my 2022 RAV4. It was by far the smoothest, easiest car-buying experience of my life! My salesperson was great and he was very knowledgeable about my RAV4 and showed me everything possible. I would definitely recommend him. – Angela
