Seven trim names, ten ways to build one, and two very different engines. Start with the engine and the rest of the range sorts itself out quickly.
Every other question on this page is easier once this one is settled. Both engines are the same 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6. One of them has an electric motor bolted into the transmission.
The standard engine on SR5 through 1794 Edition. Plenty of truck for almost everybody, and it is the only way into a Tundra under $46,000.
The same V6 plus an electric motor. The extra 104 lb-ft arrives immediately, which is what you feel when a loaded trailer is behind you and the light turns green.
Starting MSRP shown is the gas i-FORCE version of each trim, except TRD Pro and Capstone, which are i-FORCE MAX hybrids as standard. Hybrid pricing for the middle trims is in the ladder below.
Prices shown are Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) and exclude tax, title, license, registration, destination and dealer documentation fees. Fuel economy figures are EPA estimates and vary by cab, bed, drivetrain, load and driving conditions. See Tuscaloosa Toyota for current pricing and complete details.
Three trims let you choose. Two do not. Here is the gap in dollars so you can decide whether 48 horsepower and 104 lb-ft are worth it to you.
| Trim | Gas i-FORCE | i-FORCE MAX hybrid | The difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Limited | $54,860 | $58,560 | About $3,700, and the smallest step into the hybrid anywhere in the range. Also the only i-FORCE MAX rated at 20 city / 24 hwy. |
| Platinum | $63,695 | $70,605 | About $6,900. A bigger jump than Limited because the hybrid Platinum comes more heavily equipped. |
| 1794 Edition | $64,380 | $71,305 | About $6,900, same pattern as Platinum. Choose between these two on interior taste, not on hardware. |
| TRD Pro | Not offered | $72,565 | Hybrid only. The off-road hardware and the hybrid come as one package. |
| Capstone | Not offered | $80,800 | Hybrid only. The most equipped Tundra Toyota builds. |
Differences are calculated from the starting MSRP figures above and are approximate. Actual equipment differs between the gas and hybrid versions of a trim, so the gap is not purely the cost of the engine. Ask us for a build-to-build comparison on the two trucks you are choosing between.

Specifications compiled from Toyota's published 2026 Tundra data on 2026-09-09. Towing and payload ratings depend on cab, bed, drivetrain and equipment, so confirm the figures for the exact truck you are considering. See Toyota's official Tundra specifications, or check fueleconomy.gov for EPA ratings.
The step from SR to SR5 costs about $5,250 and it is the most useful $5,250 in the range. You go from the detuned 348-horsepower engine to the full 389, and you gain the tow hitch receiver, the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller and TOW/HAUL mode.
Those are not comfort items. They are the difference between a truck that can pull a boat off the ramp at Lake Tuscaloosa and one you have to add hardware to first. Everything above SR5 is about how nice the cab is.
SR and SR5 run an 8-inch touchscreen. Limited and everything above run 14 inches. There is no middle ground and no way to option your way across the line, which makes it the cleanest split on the whole page.
If you are in the truck for an hour a day, the bigger screen changes the drive more than the leather does. If the truck is a tool that lives at a job site, the 8-inch unit does everything you need and saves you $8,350.
People pick a trim first and then discover the cab and bed they wanted are not offered on it. Do it the other way around. A CrewMax with the 5.5-foot bed is already 233.6 inches long, and the 6.5-foot version stretches to 245.6.
The bed is aluminum-reinforced composite on every trim, so you do not need to budget for a spray-in liner the way you might on other trucks.
The $41,260 SR carries the same driver-assist suite as the $80,800 Capstone. You do not buy up to get it.
Detects a vehicle or pedestrian ahead and can warn or brake. Worth having in a 5,600-pound truck that does not stop like a sedan.
Warns when you drift out of a lane without signalling. Long, straight interstate miles are exactly where attention wanders.
Keeps a gap to the vehicle in front rather than a fixed speed. The single most useful feature on the run up I-20/59 to Birmingham.
Flags traffic beside the bed where the mirrors do not reach. On a CrewMax that blind area is large, and larger again with a trailer.
Switches between high and low beams for oncoming traffic. Useful on the unlit county roads between Tuscaloosa and Northport.
Not part of the safety suite, but the one to ask about. Standard from SR5 up, and the reason a loaded trailer stops in a straight line.
Seven trims, four kinds of buyer. Find yourself here and the list gets short.
It hauls, it takes abuse, and the composite bed does not care. If the truck is a cost of doing business, this is the honest choice at $41,260.
Full engine, trailer brake controller and TOW/HAUL for $46,510. If there is a boat, a camper or a car trailer in your life, start here and stop here.
14-inch screen, leather and a real back seat. The hybrid version is the cheapest way into i-FORCE MAX and the only one rated 20 city.
Past the value conversation. TRD Pro for the FOX suspension, 1794 for walnut and Saddle Tan, Platinum and Capstone for quiet. Drive two.
We are at 3325 Skyland Blvd E, just off I-20 and I-59. Bring the dimensions of what you tow and what you park in, because those two numbers settle more Tundra decisions than any spec sheet does.
Sales is open 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday and until 5:30 PM on Saturday. Call (205) 553-3325 and tell us which two trucks you want side by side and we will have them out front when you arrive from Birmingham, Bessemer or Northport.

Seven trim names: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone. Because Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition can each be ordered with the i-FORCE MAX hybrid instead of the gas V6, Toyota lists ten configurations in total.
i-FORCE is the gas 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6, rated at 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft on SR5 and above. i-FORCE MAX adds an electric motor to the same engine for 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft. The hybrid is optional on Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition, and standard on TRD Pro and Capstone.
It depends on why you want it. Going from a Limited to a Limited i-FORCE MAX costs about $3,700 and buys 48 more horsepower, 104 more lb-ft and a 2 mpg city gain. Buy it for the low-end shove when a trailer is on the back. Do not buy it expecting to recover the money at the pump.
The SR5 for most buyers. It steps up from the SR's detuned engine to the full 389-horsepower V6 and adds the tow hitch receiver, the integrated trailer brake controller and TOW/HAUL mode for about $5,250. Those are the parts a truck actually needs, and everything above SR5 is comfort.
Up to 12,000 pounds when properly equipped. That is a best-case configuration, not a number every Tundra hits. A Limited 4WD CrewMax with the 5.5-foot bed is rated at 11,120 pounds and a 1794 Edition 4WD CrewMax with the 6.5-foot bed at 10,870. Bring us your trailer weight and we will match the build.
Double Cab and CrewMax, with 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot and 8.1-foot beds depending on cab and trim. The 8.1-foot bed is unusual in this class. Upper trims are CrewMax only, so if you want the biggest bed you are shopping the lower half of the range.
32.2 gallons, and for 2026 that is standard on every trim rather than an option on some. The smaller 22.5-gallon tank is gone. On an 18 to 23 mpg truck that is the difference between stopping once and stopping twice on a long haul.
Yes, and you should, because the difference is in how the truck pulls away from a light rather than anything you can read on a page. Call us at (205) 553-3325 and we will have an i-FORCE and an i-FORCE MAX ready on Skyland Boulevard when you arrive.
Tell us what you tow and where you park. We will narrow ten Tundra builds down to two before you drive over.
