Six trims, one engine. Every 2026 Sequoia is a 437-horsepower hybrid, so this decision is about seats, screens and how you use the third row. Here is what actually separates the six.
Starting MSRP shown is the lowest drivetrain offered on that trim. SR5 and Limited start in rear-wheel drive with four-wheel drive optional. Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition and Capstone are four-wheel drive only.

On most three-row SUVs the first question is which engine you want. The Sequoia removes that question entirely. Toyota went hybrid-only with the 2022 redesign and has not looked back, so the SR5 at $65,725 and the Capstone at $86,135 make identical power: 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft through a 10-speed automatic.
That is unusual, and it is good news. The cheapest Sequoia on our lot pulls just as hard up the I-20/59 grade toward Bessemer as the most expensive one. What the extra $20,000 buys you is a bigger screen, softer leather, a quieter cabin and hardware you may or may not need.
So work backwards. Decide how many people ride in the back, whether you tow, and whether you actually leave pavement. Then pick the cheapest trim that covers all three. We wrote the rest of this page in that order.
Three forks in the range. Everything else is a preference you can settle in the parking lot.
Only the SR5 and Limited give you the choice. Four-wheel drive costs you about 2 mpg in town and roughly 200 pounds of tow rating, and in west Alabama you will use it a handful of days a year. Take it if you pull a boat off a wet ramp at Lake Tuscaloosa. Skip it otherwise.
A second-row bench seats eight. Available captain's chairs seat seven and open a walkway to the third row. If someone under ten climbs into the back row every day, the walkway is worth more than the eighth seat. If you carpool, it is not.
Above $81,000 the range splits three ways at almost the same price. Platinum is the comfortable one, TRD Pro is the off-road one, and the 1794 Edition and Capstone are two different takes on luxury. There is no better or worse here, only different.

This one surprises people. The SR5 in rear-wheel drive is rated to pull up to 9,500 pounds, and the Limited drops to 9,300. Every pound of leather, glass and four-wheel-drive hardware you add up the range comes off the trailer.
The gap is small enough that it rarely decides a purchase. It matters if you are near the limit already. Bring us the loaded weight of your trailer, not the empty weight on the sticker, and we will tell you which configuration clears it.
The SR5 runs an 8-inch touchscreen. Every other trim runs 14 inches. That is the single biggest jump between any two trims on this page, and it is why the Limited is the one we point most people toward.
At 14 inches the map and the media sit side by side instead of taking turns, and the climate controls stop hiding behind a menu. If you spend an hour a day in the car, it changes the ownership experience more than the leather does.
Sequoia's third row moves fore and aft on a track. Slid forward you get 22.3 cubic feet behind it, which swallows a week of groceries and a stroller. Slid back you get adult legroom and 11.5 cubic feet, which is a couple of duffel bags.
You cannot have both at once, and no trim changes that. What it does mean is that you should not write off the third row on a walkaround. Move it, sit in it, then decide.
You do not move up a trim to get the safety kit. The $65,725 SR5 carries the same suite as the $86,135 Capstone.
Watches for a vehicle or a pedestrian ahead and can warn you or brake if you have not reacted. The one that earns its keep on McFarland Boulevard at 5 pm.
Reads lane markings and warns you if you drift without signalling, with steering assist to nudge you back. Most useful on a long, flat interstate run.
Holds a set gap to the vehicle ahead instead of a set speed. Turns the I-20/59 crawl toward Birmingham into something you can do without your right foot.
Switches between high and low beams for you when it sees oncoming lights. Worth more than it sounds on the unlit stretches out toward Lake Tuscaloosa.
New as standard equipment across the 2026 range. Prompts you to check the back seats when you shut the vehicle down. Simple, and in an Alabama August it matters.
Flags a vehicle sitting where the mirrors do not reach. On a 208-inch SUV with a third row and headrests, that area is larger than you think.
Six trims, but most people land in one of these three groups.
You want the 437-hp hybrid and the highest tow rating, and you would rather spend the difference on the trailer. Rear-wheel drive, 8-inch screen, cloth seats and no apologies. It is the honest answer for a lot of buyers on this lot.
Three or more people ride in the back most days and you live in this thing. The 14-inch screen and leather-trimmed seats are the two upgrades you will feel every single trip, and it stops short of the $81,000 wall.
You are past the value conversation. Platinum for pavement comfort, TRD Pro for the FOX suspension, 1794 Edition for walnut and Saddle Tan, Capstone for the 22-inch wheels and Shale leather. Drive two and the choice makes itself.

Yes. There is no gas-only Sequoia and there has not been one since the 2022 redesign. All six trims run the i-FORCE MAX twin-turbo V6 hybrid, rated at 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. You are not choosing a powertrain here, only equipment and drivetrain.
The Limited for most families. It brings the 14-inch touchscreen and leather-trimmed seats over the SR5 for about $5,800, and it is the last trim before the price jumps roughly $10,000 into Platinum. If you want the biggest screen and real leather without stepping into luxury money, this is the one.

They are two different ideas of luxury at nearly the same money. The 1794 Edition is Western: Saddle Tan leather trim and open-pore American walnut. The Capstone is modern: Shale premium textured leather, 22-inch dark chrome wheels and power-extending running boards. Sit in both before you decide.
Honestly, probably not. The 2.5-inch FOX internal-bypass coil-overs and the heritage grille are the point of that truck, and they are wasted on McFarland Boulevard. If you want the look without the hardware, a Platinum saves you a little money and rides better on pavement.
